Beautifully nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains stands the splendor of Lourdes, the birthplace of St. Bernadette Soubirous, to whom Our Lady appeared in 1858 near the remote Grotto of Masabielle. Identifying herself as the “Immaculate Conception,” Our Lady appeared to 14-year-old Bernadette 18 times and the majestic basilica here has become one of the world’s leading Marian Shrines. After breakfast at the hotel, we embark on a full day exploring the deeply spiritual and historical birthplace of the visionary child, Bernadette Soubirous. Our first stop is the Grotto of the Apparitions, where Saint Bernadette experienced her initial encounters with the Blessed Virgin Mary. Despite her limited understanding of the Catholic faith, Bernadette’s sincerity and innocence led her parish priest to believe in the authenticity of these divine visits. During one of the 18 apparitions, the Virgin Mary instructed Bernadette to dig at a specific spot in the ground, where a spring miraculously emerged. From this spring flowed water that soon became associated with extraordinary healings, and to this day, gallons of water continue to surge from the same source—offering pilgrims the opportunity to bathe in its healing waters at the nearby bath center. We continue our day with a walking tour that includes visits to the Basilica of St. Pius X, the Boly Mill (where Bernadette was born and her father worked), the Soubirous family home, and the stunning Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. Mass will be celebrated in a chapel here, pending confirmation. Before dinner, we join fellow pilgrims in the moving nightly rosary and candlelight procession.

After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to Dax, a town in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France (1.5 hours). Dax boasts a rich heritage dating back to Roman times and is renowned for its thermal springs, which continue to flow today and are celebrated for their healing properties. These waters have made Dax, France a leading spiritual destination, attracting pilgrims seeking both physical and spiritual renewal and healing. With its legacy rooted in Roman wellness and Catholic charity, Dax provides a unique and meaningful complement to our pilgrimage, offering another sacred place of healing and grace after our visit to Lourdes. In the late 16th century, Dax was instrumental in the early life of St. Vincent de Paul (1581–1660), who studied at the College des Bons-Enfants before beginning his vocation as a priest and devoting his life to serving the poor and the sick.  Lunch on your own prior to a short drive to Pouy (now known as Saint-Vincent-de-Paul), the birthplace of this revered saint. Here, we visit the modest home where he was raised and the chapel where he was baptized. This the afternoon, we travel back to Toulouse, where we see the University of Toulouse. (one hour). It was here that St. Vincent de Paul earned his Doctorate in Theology. His time in Toulouse was pivotal, shaping both his intellectual depth and his spiritual mission. He was ordained a priest at the age of 24.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we begin our full day with a walking tour of the medieval town of Assisi. Starting at the awe-inspiring Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site and spiritual heart of the Franciscan order, we visit the 13th century basilica comprised of an Upper and Lower Church, each richly adorned with masterful frescoes by Giotto and Cimabue that depict the life, ministry, and heavenly vision of St. Francis. In the crypt, we venerate the tomb of this beloved saint, whose embrace of radical poverty, love for all creation, and unwavering devotion to Christ continues to echo through the Church today. As we walk through the picturesque streets of Assisi, we stop at the birthplace of St. Francis, located near the Chiesa Nuova, a church built over the presumed family home. We continue to the Basilica of St. Clare (Santa Chiara), where we honor the foundress of the Poor Clares and the dear friend and spiritual sister of St. Francis. Inside, we view her relics, including her intact body, and visit the Crucifix of San Damiano, the very cross from which Christ spoke to St. Francis, calling him to “rebuild My Church.” This cross is one of the most treasured symbols of Franciscan spirituality. Mass is celebrated (location to be determined) prior to lunch on your own and a visit to the Santuario della Spogliazione, (Sanctuary of the Renunciation), where St. Francis publicly removed his garments and renounced his worldly inheritance before the bishop, choosing a life of poverty for the sake of the Gospel. This sacred site also houses the tomb of  *St. Carlo Acutis, the young digital evangelist who spread Eucharistic devotion online before succumbing to leukemia at age 15. A model of holiness for our times, his life inspires young and old alike to embrace the path of sanctity. Schedule permitting, our day ends with free time to stroll, shop, and return to holy sites for personal prayer.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we depart for San Giovanni Rotondo. En route, we first visit the magnificent Marian Shrine of Loreto, the Basilica della Santa Casa (1.5 hours). Inside this revered basilica, we venerate the Holy House of Nazareth, which, according to tradition, is the very home where the Blessed Virgin Mary was born, raised, and received the Annunciation from the Archangel Gabriel. It is believed to be the place where Our Lady proclaimed the Magnificat and where the Holy Family lived, raising the child Jesus. Catholic tradition holds that angels miraculously transported the Holy House to Loreto for protection during times of war in the Holy Land. Within the basilica, we also visit the beautiful image of the Madonna of Loreto, one of 500 Black Madonnas throughout Europe. Lunch on your own before our stop in Lanciano (2 hours).  This small town known for housing one of the most profound Eucharistic Miracles in Church history. In the 8th century, a Basilian monk, doubting the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, witnessed the host turn into live flesh and the wine into real blood during the consecration at Mass. These sacred relics—now scientifically examined and preserved—remain on display in the Church of St. Longinus, drawing countless pilgrims each year to venerate the miracle. Mass is celebrated here this day before our departure to San Giovanni Rotondo the hometown of Padre Pio, one of the most beloved modern saints, known for his stigmata, miracles, and deep devotion to the Sacraments (2 hours).

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our day by learning about Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the “Home for the Relief of Suffering,” the world-renowned hospital founded by St. Padre Pio in 1956. This institution was not only a medical center, but a mission of mercy—Padre Pio envisioned it as a place where science and prayer would unite to care for the whole person, body, and soul. Today, it stands as a living legacy of his compassion for the sick and suffering and is considered one of the best hospitals in Italy. We then visit the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Padre Pio spent most of his priestly life. Here, we visit the confessional where the saint tirelessly heard confessions for hours each day, offering penitents both mercy and spiritual insight—many testified that he had the mystical gift of reading souls. At the nearby Sanctuary of Padre Pio, we venerate his incorrupt body and tour his modest living quarters, which include relics and personal effects that offer a glimpse into his humble and holy life. This afternoon, we travel through the stunning landscape of the Gargano Peninsula to the sacred town of Monte Sant’Angelo, home to the Sanctuary of St. Michael the Archangel. This grotto is one of the most ancient and revered pilgrimage sites in Western Europe. According to tradition, St. Michael the Archangel appeared here in the years 490, 492, and 493, consecrating the cave as a place of divine protection against spiritual warfare. Many saints, including St. Francis of Assisi and St. Padre Pio, made pilgrimages here. Mass is celebrated here this day with lunch on your own and time to explore and reflect in this charming medieval village. Return to San Giovanni Rotondo: 9:00pm Candlelight Procession schedule permitting.

After breakfast, free time for fasting and quiet reflection prior to Mass at Santa Maria delle Grazie, the beloved church of St. Padre Pio. We depart San Giovanni Rotondo and begin a scenic journey through the Italian countryside, traveling northwest toward the historic site of Monte Cassino (3 hours). Nestled atop a mountain, Monte Cassino is the location of ancient Casium, and the site where St. Benedict of Nursia founded the first monastery of the Benedictine Order around the year 529. This sacred and impressive site is regarded as the birthplace of Western monasticism. Time for private prayer and visit to the gift shop prior to our travel to Rome (1.5 hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our first day in Rome with a visit to the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the four major basilicas in Rome and a vital Marian shrine (1st Holy Door). Here, we celebrate Mass near the high altar (pending confirmation), under which lies the Crypt of the Nativity. Encased in a crystal reliquary are relics traditionally believed to be fragments of the wood from the Holy Crib in which the Infant Jesus was laid in Bethlehem. The basilica also holds the tomb of St. Jerome, Doctor of the Church who translated the Bible into Latin. It was in this sacred church that St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, offered his first Mass as a priest in 1538. St. Mary Major is also associated with the remarkable Miracle of the Snow. We continue to the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. Built to house relics of the Passion of Our Lord, this basilica contains an extraordinary collection: a piece of the True Cross, a nail from the Crucifixion, thorns believed to be from Christ’s Crown, the titulus (the sign placed above Jesus’ head), and even the finger of St. Thomas, the Apostle who touched the Risen Lord’s wounds. We then visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome and the official ecclesiastical seat of the Pope (2nd Holy Door). Known as the Mother and Head of all Churches in the world, it is the oldest of the four papal basilicas, originally established by Emperor Constantine in the fourth century. Within its grand interior are colossal statues of the Twelve Apostles, standing as timeless witnesses to the Church’s foundation on their faith. Notably, St. Paul is included in place of St. Matthias, reflecting his foundational role in the spread of the Gospel. The two “holy heads” of Sts. Peter and Paul are enclosed in 2 ornate reliquaries high above the altar in this magnificent basilica. Across from the basilica is the Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs), believed to be the very staircase that Jesus ascended during His Passion to face Pontius Pilate. These marble steps were brought to Rome by St. Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. Today, they are encased in wood to protect them, but pilgrims can ascend them on their knees as a powerful act of penance and devotion. Small openings in the wooden risers allow glimpses—and sometimes physical contact—with the original marble. In the afternoon, we enjoy leisure time in the heart of Rome, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the beautiful Piazza Navona.

En una reliquia de cristal se conservan fragmentos de madera que, según la tradición, provienen del pesebre donde fue colocado el Niño Jesús en Belén. Fue en esta iglesia donde San Ignacio de Loyola celebró su primera Misa como sacerdote en 1538. Continuamos hacia la Basílica de Santa Cruz en Jerusalén, construida para albergar reliquias de la Pasión de Nuestro Señor. Aquí veneramos una impresionante colección: un pedazo de la Verdadera Cruz, un clavo de la Crucifixión, espinas de la Corona, el titulus (el letrero colocado sobre la Cruz de Jesús) y el dedo de Santo Tomás, el Apóstol que tocó las llagas del Resucitado. Luego visitamos la Basílica de San Juan de Letrán, catedral de la Diócesis de Roma y sede oficial del Papa (Segunda Puerta Santa). Conocida como la Madre y Cabeza de todas las Iglesias del mundo, es la más antigua de las basílicas papales y fue fundada por el emperador Constantino en el siglo IV. Dentro encontramos estatuas monumentales de los Doce Apóstoles (con San Pablo en lugar de San Matías), y en lo alto del altar se encuentran dos relicarios ornamentados que contienen las “santas cabezas” de San Pedro y San Pablo. Frente a la basílica, cruzamos para visitar la Scala Santa (Escalera Santa), la escalera de mármol que Jesús habría subido durante Su Pasión para presentarse ante Poncio Pilato. Estas escaleras fueron llevadas a Roma por Santa Elena, madre del emperador Constantino. Hoy están recubiertas en madera para su protección, y los peregrinos las suben tradicionalmente de rodillas en gesto de penitencia. Pequeñas aberturas permiten ver o incluso tocar el mármol original. Por la tarde, disfrutamos de tiempo libre en el centro de Roma, con la oportunidad de visitar lugares icónicos como la Plaza de España, la Fuente de Trevi y la Plaza Navona.

Following breakfast, we visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, one of the four major papal basilicas (3rd Holy Door). The basilica stands over the site where St. Paul was buried after his beheading under Emperor Nero and is where Mass is celebrated this day. Lunch on your own at the basilica’s café with time to browse the adjoining gift shop. *Special items purchased here can be blessed by the Pope at the Audience the following day. Next, we visit the Church of Domine Quo Vadis, located along the ancient Appian Way. According to Christian tradition, it was here that Saint Peter, fleeing persecution in Rome, encountered the Risen Christ. When Peter asked, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus responded, “I am going to Rome to be crucified again.” This profound moment moved Peter to turn back and accept his martyrdom in Rome. The church contains a copy of the marble slab said to bear the footprints of Christ, a tangible sign of this sacred encounter that continues to inspire pilgrims (the original miraculous footprints are housed at St. Sebastian Church nearby). Late afternoon, leisure time to explore the Eternal City on your own as schedule allows.

Después del desayuno, visitamos la Basílica de San Pablo Extramuros, una de las cuatro basílicas mayores de Roma (Tercera Puerta Santa). Esta se alza sobre el lugar donde fue sepultado San Pablo tras ser decapitado bajo el mandato del emperador Nerón. Hoy celebraremos la Misa en esta basílica.
Almuerzo libre en la cafetería del lugar, con tiempo para visitar su tienda de regalos. Los artículos adquiridos aquí pueden ser bendecidos por el Santo Padre durante la Audiencia Papal al día siguiente. Luego visitamos la iglesia de Domine Quo Vadis, ubicada en la antigua Vía Apia. Según la tradición cristiana, fue aquí donde San Pedro, huyendo de la persecución en Roma, encontró al Cristo Resucitado. Pedro le preguntó: “Señor, ¿a dónde vas?”, y Jesús le respondió: “Voy a Roma para ser crucificado de nuevo”. Este profundo encuentro llevó a Pedro a regresar a Roma y aceptar su martirio. La iglesia contiene una réplica de la losa de mármol que conserva las huellas de Jesús (el original está resguardado en la Iglesia de San Sebastián cercana). Por la tarde, tiempo libre para seguir explorando Roma a su propio ritmo.

After a very early breakfast at the hotel, we attend the Papal Audience in

St. Peter’s Square, celebrated at 9 a.m. each Wednesday by The Holy See* (papal schedule permitting). Lunch on your own nearby before a tour of the magnificent Vatican Museum (Tapestry Gallery, Raphael Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel) and we end the afternoon at St. Peter’s Basilica, where we visit several iconic Catholic treasures including Michelangelo's Pieta and the tomb of St. Pope John Paul II prior to a walk through the basilica, which ends underground at the Tomb of St. Peter 

(4th Holy Door). Mass this day at church near St. Peter Square. 

Dinner and overnight in Rome.

Después de un desayuno muy temprano en el hotel, asistimos a la Audiencia Papal en la Plaza de San Pedro, celebrada cada miércoles por el Santo Padre (según disponibilidad en su agenda). Almuerzo libre en los alrededores antes de comenzar nuestro recorrido por los Museos Vaticanos, donde visitamos la Galería de los Tapices, las Estancias de Rafael y la majestuosa Capilla Sixtina. Culminamos la tarde en la Basílica de San Pedro, donde veneramos algunas de las joyas más importantes del catolicismo: la Piedad de Miguel Ángel, la tumba de San Juan Pablo II y el lugar más sagrado del cristianismo: la Tumba de San Pedro (Cuarta Puerta Santa). Celebramos la Misa en una iglesia cercana a la Plaza de San Pedro.

Following our final breakfast at the hotel, we bid farewell to this

beautiful and holy part of the world and travel back to Rome

(Fiumicino International Airport) for our departure to the USA. Ciao
