About this trip

A pilgrimage to the Marian Shrines and Apparitions of Portugal, Spain and France is a spiritually powerful and profound experience for the countless Catholics who visit yearly!

Portugal, with its charming and captivating landscapes, holds a particularly special place in the hearts of pilgrims for its revered sanctuary of Fatima, where Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children in 1917.

Spain provides the magnificent backdrop for Santiago de Compostela, the final resting place of St. James Major, as well as the Eucharistic Miracle of Oviedo, the historic Holy Cave of Covadonga, Loyola, birthplace of St. Ignatius Loyola, and Gaudi’s breathtaking Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

The Pyrenees foothills of France is home of St. Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes. Renowned for its miraculous spring, Lourdes is known as one of the world's most beautiful and significant pilgrimage sites. A Marian journey through these countries will surely deepen devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and strengthen the faith of all who travel this awe-inspiring and holy part of the world.

This was a great experience. The sites we visited were informative and amazing. The guides were knowledgeable and able to answer questions. Would recommend to anyone who wants to enrich their spiritual life.

The pilgrimage was jammed pack with all the holy sites and with good tour guides. I thoroughly enjoyed all the churches and places that we visited. Fr. Wichert is such a wonderful spiritual guide who not only attended to our spiritual needs - we have mass everyday and confession on demand - but also attend to our physical and emotional wellbeing. He added so much to our pilgrimage experience! He is always cheerful, witty and kept us all joyful by reciting prayers or singing hymns while on long bus rides. I am very happy that I was blessed enough to join this pilgrimage! 1

Our pilgrimage to Italy with Jimmy Akin and Trinity Travel was truly something special. It wasn’t just a trip—it was an experience full of faith, fun, and unforgettable moments. Trinity Travel organized everything with such care and professionalism. From seamless logistics to thoughtfully chosen hotels and meals, they made it easy for us to focus on what mattered: prayer, connection, and discovery. Their on-the-ground team was attentive, kind, and always one step ahead, making us feel truly cared for every day. Getting to travel with Jimmy Akin was a real treat. His talks brought a sense of wonder to each place we visited—mixing Catholic teaching, Church history, and just the right touch of mystery. It felt like we were living out episodes of Mysterious World as we explored places like Assisi, Orvieto, and Rome. But what made it truly meaningful was the group itself. We laughed, prayed, learned, and shared so much along the way. By the end, we felt like one big pilgrim family. If you’re thinking about going on a pilgrimage, I can’t recommend Trinity Travel enough. I came home refreshed in my faith—and already dreaming about the next one!

The pilgrimage was really good, for a pilgrimage. The hotels were fairly decent, although they did decline in quality as we left Rome, but that was to be expected. There were a lot of full days with some time to mull about after visiting pilgrimage sites in various locations and daily dinners were a nice change of pace. The only complaint was the lack of direct flights from / to major cities to / from Rome, rather than layovers at second tier airports. This would have not only prevented my duty free confiscation (see below) but also saved approximatey 8 - 9 HOURS of wasted time flying and waiting on weather / airlines / bad airports. By not having direct flights, it essentially wasted the pilgrims' time and didn't have the bonding effect that I think was well intentioned albeit misguided; mostly due to the poor choice of Philly (never ever use Philly for international flights as it's apparently the only US airport where international travelers have to go through security again after landing to get to their domestic flight), there were not only major delays on the return flight, but they ended up confiscating duty free items that didn't fit in their scanner because no one (tour guides, airline, FCO/PHIL, baggage handlers) told us to either give the duty free items to the airline to prevent confiscation by TSA nor were there any indications before dropping off our checked luggage (after picking it up at international carousels) that we would have to go through security again, either on the in-flight info or prior to drop off. This is apparently the only airport in the US that requires international travelers go back through the same security lines that domestic travelers coming from outside of the airport use. The item I had left in my carry on since FCO, that I was looking forward to, you cannot get it in the states was worth approx. $60. TSA didn't allow my alcohol purchase through as it didn't fit in their sizer and the antiquated machine it was run through alarmed on it (despite already surviving the trip from Rome and being in a sealed duty-free bag). Buyer beware, insist on direct flights and don't waste time with layovers. I was worried when I saw they used domestic airlines for overseas travel; I prefer foreign airlines when traveling to Europe as they generally provide better experiences; however, in this case American Airlines did a good job, relatively speaking.
