Following breakfast at the hotel, we tour the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Holy Mass is celebrated here this day. We venerate the Tilma of St. Juan Diego, which remains exactly how it was presented to the humble saint centuries ago. We walk the grounds of Tepeyac Hill, beginning with a charming museum that hosts a collection of paintings and colonial religious art created by pilgrims in gratitude for miracles granted. We ascend Tepeyac Hill to visit the Capilla del Cerrito, the original chapel on the exact site of the apparitions of Our Lady to Juan Diego in 1531. Walking up the small hills of the Tepeyac Garden, we view its beautiful statues, which depict the unity of the Aztec people with the Spanish Christian Mission. We end our visit to Tepeyac Hill at the Chapel of the Indians near where St. Juan Diego lived. Lunch on your own nearby with free time as schedule permits.
A visit to Sagrada Familia to see the church and small museum dedicated to Bl. Miguel Pro this afternoon. Viva el Cristo Rey!
Welcome Dinner & overnight in Mexico City.
Following breakfast at the hotel, we journey to the pre-Christian city of Teotihuacan (1 hour). Famous for the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, Teotihuacan stands as evidence that long before the Gospel reached the Americas, its people have always expressed a universal search for God – ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Lunch on your own and return to CDMX to tour the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven where Mass is celebrated (To Be Confirmed: TBC). A walking tour of the Historic Plaza Mayor follows to see the National Palace, Templo Mayor, Zocalo Square and more.
Dinner & overnight in Mexico City.
An early breakfast and check -out with transfer to the airport for our flight to Lima, Peru. Arrive at Jorge Chavez Airport late this afternoon and transfer directly to the beautiful Miraflores area for an evening Mass of Thanksgiving at The Church of the Miraculous Virgin.
Check-in, Welcome Dinner & overnight in Lima.
An early breakfast at the hotel and we begin our day with a tour of The Sanctuary of the Lord of Miracles. Here we see the most venerated image of Christ in all of Peru, and one of the largest Catholic devotions in the world. Painted in the 1600s by an enslaved African man, the painting survived a catastrophic earthquake that destroyed most of Lima in 1655. The wall with the image remained standing, which was seen as miraculous spreading a rapid devotion to the Lord of Miracles. Mass is celebrated here this day (TBC). We visit the House of Friar Martin de Porres with its museum, the saint’s living quarters, the infirmary areas where he cared for the sick, and its famous well associated with miraculous healing properties. We travel a short way to the Sanctuary of St. Rose of Lima where we visit the saint’s home and museum dedicated to her life. A visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary – Convent of Santo Domingo follows nearby. It is considered one of the most important Dominican sites in all the Americas. Here lie the final resting places of St. Martin de Porres, St. Rose of Lima, and St. John Macias. Lunch on your own prior to visiting the Cathedral of Lima with its stunning interior chapels, and the Museum of the Convent of San Francisco along with its catacombs. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the convent/catacombs were built in the 16th-17th centuries and are one of the best-preserved colonial sacred complexes in Latin America. The site reflects the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi, whose 8th Centenary is celebrated in 2026. Our day in Lima ends with a stop in the colorful and lively area of Barranco. Here we stroll its colorful streets filled with vivid murals, galleries, shops, etc. We see the iconic Bridge of Sighs, the scenic Bajada de los Banos (walkway to the Pacific Ocean) and much more of Peruvian cultural expression! Lastly, we visit the Church of La Ermita, a charming, historic church near the Bridge of Sighs.
Dinner & overnight in Lima.
Following breakfast and check-out at the hotel, we transfer to the Jorge Chavez Airport for our flight to Cusco. This afternoon’s focus is on acclimation as Cusco sits at about 12,00 ft, a significant altitude from Lima’s sea level. Lunch on your own followed by a LIGHT walking tour which includes a stroll through the Main Square and a walk to the Cusco Cathedral Basilica, Church of El Triunfo, and La Sagrada where the Lord of Earthquakes and the Virgin Mary of the Assumption are venerated. We visit the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the Santo Domingo Convent and Church. These sites brilliantly represent two layers of history in one place: an ancient Incan temple and a Spanish colonial church built directly on top of it. An Incan engineering marvel, the temple walls were once covered in sheets of gold to reflect sunlight. Above this intact, precise foundation was built the Santo Domingo Church. Mass at the Cathedral of St. Blas (TBC) this day.
Check-in, dinner & overnight in Cusco.
Following breakfast and check-out at the hotel, we make our journey into the magnificent Sacred Valley of the Andes Mountains (luggage remains at hotel in bag storage for safekeeping). This winding, picturesque route through the Andean valley is marked by fertile farmland, winding rivers, dramatic mountains, ancient Incan towns, terraces, and temples. Our first stop is in the fascinating area of Chincheros, “Land of the Rainbows”, where the views are wide and dramatic. Once an important Incan settlement, it is well known for its handcrafted alpaca wool textiles and natural dyes that are woven the same way they were centuries ago. Here too, we see two civilizations layered together. Once the residence of the Incan Tupac Yupanqui, the Spanish later built the Church of Our Lady of Montserrat above its foundations. We journey to Moray, one of the most unusual and fascinating sites in the Sacred Valley. Although it appears as a giant natural amphitheater, it is a highly sophisticated agricultural laboratory created by the Incas. Its huge circular terraces form concentric rings that descend downward like a bowl. We later travel to the quiet town of Maras where we visit the Maras Salt Mines. Individual salt ponds (3000-4000!) cascade down the hillside like a patchwork mosaic, shifting colors from white to golden, pink and brown, all depending on the light and mineral content. The salt making follows a simple but ingenious process used since Inca times. Lunch on your own nearby and we arrive at the train station in Ollantaytambo to take the train to Aguas Calientes. A small pedestrian village at the foot of Machu Picchu, walking is the only way to get around (*travelers must be prepared to roll luggage a short way to the hotel). Mass at The Iglesia of Chincheros (TBC) this day.
Check-in, dinner & overnight in Aguas Calientes.
An early breakfast and check-out at the hotel and we depart for the Consettur Bus Station to ascend the citadel of Machu Picchu – a magnificent 2 hour guided tour follows. Built in the 15th century by the Incas without modern tools, mortar or machinery, the precision of the stonework, the advanced engineering , and how it was constructed to withstand earthquakes, is remarkably awe-inspiring. It remains completely intact as it was never discovered by Spanish explorers, making it a truly authentic symbol of Peruvian indigenous heritage. Unknown to the outside world until 1911, no one knows exactly why Machu Picchu was built. Incredibly, its stones were cut so precisely, they fit together without mortar, and a knife cannot even be slid between them! Surrounded by steep cliffs and the winding Urubamba River far below, it is earthquake resistant (stones shift slightly and settle back into place) and has an almost dramatically “hidden” feel. Following this amazing and possibly once in a lifetime experience, we return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (included) and Mass later at the Virgen del Carmen Parish (TBC). We return to the train station in Ollantaytambo for our travel back to Cusco.
Check-in, dinner (on your own) & overnight in Cusco
Following breakfast at the hotel, we travel to the South Valley to Andahuaylillas to visit the Church of St. Peter the Apostle, known as “The Sistine Chapel of the Americas”. Its modest exterior contrasts starkly to its magnificent interior, which houses vivid murals, frescoes, and gold leafing throughout. We visit the Church of St. John the Baptist in nearby Huaro, which in its Renaissance style, houses more than 60 sculptures and 50 painted canvases, beautiful silverware, and majestic altar pieces. Art throughout is defined by the fusion of Andean symbolism, popular beliefs of the time, nature, colonial art, and the coming evangelization of early devoted Christians. We continue a short way to Canincunca to visit the Chapel of the Virgin of Purification. Built in the 17th century, the chapel sits in a quiet, rural Andean landscape, making it feel extraordinarily peaceful and somewhat isolated. The three Andean churches visited today echo the Spanish evangelization efforts throughout this part of the world and together they form a cultural circuit that shows different artistic and emotional expressions of the Catholic faith. Lunch on your own in Andahuaylillas and we return to the hotel for free time. Mass time and location TBC this day.
Dinner & overnight in Cusco.
Following breakfast and check-out at the hotel, we take a morning flight back to Lima. Mass time and location TBC prior to a free afternoon for rest or exploring Lima on your own.
Check-in, Farewell Dinner & overnight in Lima
Following our final breakfast and check-out, we transfer to Jorge Chavez International Airport for our return flight to the USA. From the grace of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the majesty of the Andes, we return home renewed by Christ and the holy saints of the Americas!
